Altona Forest Photo Gallery

This red trillium is growin in the litter of white cedar trees. The photo was taken by Larry Noonan. The red trillium is closely related to the white trillium which has been Ontario's floral emblem since 1937. It takes up to 15 years for a trillium to flower. For this reason, and the fact that it does not usually survive transplanting, the white or red trillium should not be picked or transplanted.
